Smart enough to work at Google?

April 30, 2012 in News Roundup

Fancy a job at a tech start-up called Google? You may have heard of them.

Apparently, their recruitment process is rigorous to say the least.

According to William Poundstone, author of ‘Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google?‘, you may get asked trick questions, Zen-like riddles and insanely difficult puzzles.

Here are a bunch of questions you may get asked if you fancy a desk at Googleplex. We’ll post the answers soon. Not that you will need them. We didn’t (cough):

3) If you had a stack of pennies as tall as the Empire State Building, could you fit them all in one room?

4) A man pushed his car to a hotel and lost his fortune. What happened?

5) Add any standard arithmetic signs to this equation to make it true: 3 1 3 6 = 8

And believe it or not, they are some of the easier questions.

North East m-commerce app launches on Android

April 26, 2012 in News Roundup

Following their high-profile launch in Silicon Valley in 2010, Newcastle-based Mobicart has now made their m-commerce app builder available on Android.

The user interface of the Android release follows the same style as their iPhone app enabling retailers to take full control of their m-commerce stores.

The company has also released an updated version of the app builder to be used with the New iPad.

The platform has been uniquely designed to replicate a magazine with the ability to turn pages and flick through your product catalog, a press release from the company says.

“This now means MobiCart’s app builder can be used on the majority of mobile phones and is great news for retailers as it means their products can reach a bigger market by being available to a wider audience”, MobiCart Director Wladimir Baranoff-Rossine said.
