Extra taster session for music management course announced

Newcastle-based music development agency Generator is running an extra taster session for their music management course, MMBE, due to high demand.

The session – set to take place on 1 March at Gateshead College – will give the North East music community another chance to meet the Generator team and the lecturers to find out more about the course.

Managing a Music Business Enterprise (MMBE) is a 13-week course aimed at amateur musicians, managers and promoters wanting to make their passion into a profession.

Dene Films’ 20th anniversary celebrations fill Tyneside Cinema

North East’s leading producer of commercials and documentaries, Dene Films, celebrated its 20-year journey with a special screening at the Tyneside Cinema last week.

The show took the form of a 20-minute reel of clips starting with Dene’s first ever production for SCS and finishing with the BAFTA nominated film for the BBC – Stammer School.

P&G pushing the envelope

Yes, we know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit but how are you meant to resist when you see a headline like ‘P&G To Lay Off 1,600 After Discovering It’s Free To Advertise On Facebook’.

Procter & Gamble, gatekeeper of brands such as Gillette, Braun, Pampers and Pringles, are well known for their astronomical advertising spend ($10bn – yes, that’s billion not million).

But CEO Robert McDonald has just discovered that Google and Facebook can be “more efficient” than traditional media. So, to celebrate this eureka moment, he’s going to axe 1,600 people.

Ambitious Northumbria University graduate, James Mishreki, has launched a new web based tool to help businesses keep track of their competitors.

Competitor Monitor has been devised to automate the process of price checking against competitors online, allowing for easy analysis of vital market data that could not be generated manually.

“It is empowering companies to become more proactive in protecting their brand, being more competitive and finding market opportunities”, the 25-year-old North East entrepreneur said.

Viking is one of the UK’s largest office equipment providers supplying thousands of offices throughout the country with equipment ranging from stamps and coffee to seats and desks.

Brett Jacobson, managing director of Mediaworks, said it was great to have another big name to add their client list.
