Graeme Metcalf crowned 'The Battle' champion

Following last year’s success, the second Codeworks design event, ‘The Battle’, challenged some of the region’s top designers in a fast-paced competition.

The event attracted a crowd of 150 people from the North East’s digital industry at the Performance Academy at Newcastle College to see eight graphic designers tackle 20-minute design challenges.

North East software project nominated for prestigious awards

Sunderland based Codeworks Digital Evaluation Vehicle (DEV) has been nominated for two accolades at this year’s UK Agile Awards.

Sunderland-based Codeworks DEV is a project that offers a unique software application prototyping service to North East innovators to reduces barriers, time and risk. The project has been nominated for ‘Best use of Agile in the Public Sector’ and ‘Most Valuable Agile Project ’.

One North East slammed for 'failing' small digital businesses

Regional Development Agency One North East has been strongly critisised in a a Telegraph article for failing to support the sustainable growth of the digital sector.

Milo Yiannopoulos accuses One North East of exercising a “spray and pray” mentality, failing to wisely distribute and monitor the effects of public money.

Codeworks boss named in MediaGuardian's power list

herbkim (1)Herb Kim, Codeworks’ chief executive, has been recognised as one of the country’s 100 most influential media people.

As a new entry to the annual list at number 83, Kim ranked higher than The Independent’s editor in chief Simon Kelner as well as BBC North director Peter Salmon.

Kim was described as an inspirational and pivotal figure in the UK technology scene outside of London.

Worldwide digital community gathers in the North East

The third annual Thinking Digital conference put the spotlight of the digital industy firmly on the North East.

The two-day event saw The Sage Gateshead filled with world-renowned technologists and digital specialists from across the globe. The conference has become an annual ‘major event’ for the science and technology industry as well as for the region.

Lauren Laverne, a Sunderland-born TV presenter, kicked off the two-day event on Wednesday by highlighting its importance for the North East – which she describes as a “technology industry hotbed”.

Brand image specialist joins Codeworks

kevin_codeworks (1)North East based Codeworks, the centre for digital innovation, have recruited a new Membership Account Manager for their trade association Codeworks Connect.

Kevin Robson has joined from Schawk UK, a market leader specialising in brand image management for FMCG and Pharmaceutical clients. During his four years at Schawk UK he managed their GlaxoSmithKline account.

Kevin will bring a broad range of project management and creative communications skills to his new role.  At present he is identifying new ways to improve Codeworks service offerings and is very keen to build and develop new relationships between Codeworks and the North East digital industry.
