We are looking for an all-round web developer to be part of our dynamic, multi-creative team.

Duties will involve meeting clients, listening to their requirements, liaising with the design team throughout the design process, taking existing designs and creating tableless, standards compliant website layouts using XHTML and CSS, as well as programming in PHP using mySQL queries, the construction of e?commerce, content managed and database?driven websites. This can take place individually, or in the case of larger projects, can involve a longer process as part of a team.

This is a challenging role. It involves working to tight deadlines and producing work of a demonstrably high standard with huge emphasis placed on attention to detail. Understanding of and experience with Javascript and JQuery is an advantage.

This permanent post (subject to a three month probationary period), is based on standard hours of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday although some flexibility may be required.

Not enough Facebook friends? Buy them

Who says you can’t buy friends? An Australian online marketing company is selling friends and fans to Facebook members after offering a similar service to Twitter users.

Advertising, marketing and promoting company uSocial (usocial.net) said it was targeting social networking sites because of their huge advertising potential.

“Facebook is an extremely effective marketing tool,” Leon Hill, uSocial CEO, said in a statement.

“The simple fact is that with a large following on Facebook, you have an instant and targeted group of people you can contact and promote whatever it is you want to promote,” he added.

YouTube lifts music video block

The issue of copyright has dogged YouTube since its launch

YouTube has lifted a block on users viewing official music videos after the website reached an agreement with songwriters’ group PRS for Music.

In March, the service blocked thousands of music videos to UK users after failing to reach agreement over fees.

YouTube, owned by Google, is paying an undisclosed lump sum to PRS, backdated until January and lasting until 2012.

Adam Shaw from PRS for Music told the BBC that he was pleased that an agreement had finally been reached.

'Phishing' dries up – are scammers changing their game?

Internet criminals might be rethinking a favourite scam for stealing people’s personal information.

A report due from IBM shows a big drop in the volume of “phishing” emails, in which fraud artists send what looks like a legitimate message from a bank or some other company.

If the recipients click on a link in a phishing email, they land on a rogue website that captures their passwords, account numbers or any other information they might enter.

IBM’s midyear security report found that phishing accounted for just 0.1 per cent of all spam in the first six months of this year. In the same period in 2008, phishing made up 0.2 per cent to 0.8 per cent of all spam.
